Cardboard Gingerbread Hoose Competition!

Help build our Christmas Village and win a Timorous Beasties Pyramid Chair!

The Pyramid at Anderston invites architects, artists, designers and engineers to enter our Cardboard Gingerbread Hoose competition to create a magical Christmas village!

The Pyramid is a local community charity. Every year, we produce Anderston Loves Christmas, an annual free community celebration for over 500 local children and their families, as well as a number of other festive events.

This year, we’re filling the Pyramid Hall with gingerbread house style buildings, made from cardboard, and we’re asking for your help to make it happen.

There is a very special prize for the winning entry – a unique Timorous Beasties chair. Everyone who enters will be invited to the opening of the Village on Thursday 4th December, when the prize-winning entry will be announced.

Registration fee £25 per building, which goes towards our community festive events.

Sign up to enter as soon as possible – there are a limited number of spaces for entries.

Complete the online form here and pay the £25 registration fee.

Rules/Terms and Conditions

  • Buildings must be made from cardboard with a maximum footprint of 1 square metre and be able to be moved by one person. The Pyramid walls are 8 metres high so there are no height restrictions, as long as you can get it through the doors! (You can finish your assembly on site and entrants may also make last minute adjustments on Thursday 4 December between 3pm – 4.30pm).
  • You can use glue, tape, staples, etc and decorate your building however you wish, and add e.g. LED lights and other features, which must be fire safe and standalone – there will be no access to power.
  • The Pyramid reserves the right to reject any entries which do not conform to the rules or which it deems unsafe or unsuitable for display.
  • Entries can be made by businesses/organisations or individuals. Maximum of one entry per individual and two entries per organisation.
  • Entries can be dropped off on Friday 28 November or Monday 1 December – Wednesday 3 December, at The Pyramid between 9am – 4pm, and also Saturday 29 November between 10am – 3pm. Entries must be delivered to The Pyramid no later than Saturday 29 November.
  •  Entrant name must be firmly attached to the underside or inside the structure, and a completed entry form must be completed online. Entries will be judged anonymously and name labels will be added after judging.
  • The winner will be chosen by a panel; the judging panel’s decision is final.
  • Structures can be collected and removed after our Christmas events (date to be advised) or will be recycled. The Pyramid will take reasonable care of structures but cannot guarantee they won’t experience wear and tear during the period they are on display.
  • There is one first prize, one Pyramid mid-century chair, which has been renovated by Timorous Beasties. The chair dates from c.1968 and therefore shows signs of wear in line with its age and heritage.
  •  Entrants will receive one ticket to a private view of the Gingerbread Village on Thursday 4 December, 5pm – 7pm, including drinks and canapes. The winning entry will be announced at the event. Further tickets will be available to purchase, subject to availability. The winning entrant may collect their prize after the event, at any time when The Pyramid is open.
  • By entering, you agree that The Pyramid may use images of your entry and the entrant name to publicise our organisation and events online and in print, including sharing with our partners, supporters and the media.
