The City is an Orchard Commons Launch Event

Saturday 15 August / 12.00pm—3.00pm
Free, booking required

Glasgow is an orchard commons! Join us to plan, harvest, preserve and share Glasgow’s abundant fruit.

This event is organised by Glasgow Community Food Network

We are calling all fruit-friendly people to join us in a collective mission to harvest Glasgow’s greatest crop! Join us at this event to celebrate the launch of our new project, The City is an Orchard Commons, delivered in partnership with The Orchard Project.

This is for anyone who grows fruit and wants to share it, is interested in collectivising our city’s food resources, or would like to find out more about the many ways to harvest and share fruit.

The agenda for the day:

60 min: arrival + lunch (soup & bread, tea & coffee)
30 min: introduce the project, including some of the detail that came out of our event at Alexandra Park Food Forest
90 min: group activities: crowdsource a harvest, storage and distribution map (Click this link to share your surplus fruit: Apple Appeal – Share Your Surplus – Fill in form)

This event will be the first in a small series so keep your eyes peeled for more details on the following:

29 August: Picking Picnic – come learn how to harvest, details TBA
19 September: Harvest party at The Pyramid, in conjunction with the Anderston Gala Day, details TBA
