Ceilidh Meets Garba
As part of the Glasgow 2026 Festival programme, Momentum Films presents Ceilidh Meets Garba — a joyful evening of dance, music, food and community, bringing together Scottish Ceilidh and Gujarati Garba in celebration of two Commonwealth cities: Glasgow and Ahmedabad.
As Glasgow hosts the 2026 Commonwealth Games, and Ahmedabad prepares to welcome the next Commonwealth Games, this event creates a cultural meeting point between Scotland and India.
Through dance, rhythm and shared celebration, Ceilidh Meets Garba invites people to come together and experience the joy of two community dance traditions in one space.
The evening will feature Scottish Ceilidh led by the Glasgow Ceilidh Band, alongside Garba performance by a Garba group.
Whether you already know the steps or have never danced Ceilidh or Garba before, this is a participatory event — everyone is invited to join in, learn, laugh and celebrate together.
Ceilidh and Garba both carry a strong spirit of community. They are dances of gathering, rhythm, call, response and collective joy. This programme brings them together as a celebration of cultural exchange, belonging and the many communities that make up Scotland today.
Audiences can expect a warm, energetic and welcoming evening filled with live music, dance, movement, food and connection.
Come with friends, family or on your own — the whole point is to join the circle, share the rhythm and be part of the celebration.
The evening will include complimentary refreshments in partnership with our hospitality partner, Dishoom Glasgow.
This programme is delivered by Momentum Films as part of Glasgow 2026 Festival, delivered by Glasgow Life, and supported by Glasgow 2026, Commonwealth Sport, the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and sportscotland.
