Pumpkin Carving
The Pyramid at Anderston will be Pumpkin Carving with Jim Parkyn from unwanted pumpkins to help inspire the community to eat their pumpkins and reduce the number that end up in the bin this Halloween.
There will be an After School Workshop and Evening Workshop
After School Workshop
For ages 8-16, each child must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+ / 3:30-5:00 pm / £2
Each child will get their own pumpkin to carve with the help of their adult. Alongside there’ll be tasty food made from pumpkins; and you’ll be able to take your pumpkin ‘guts’ home, along with your beautifully carved pumpkin.
Evening Workshop
Over 18s / 6:30-8:30pm / £15
A pumpkin for each adult will be provided, along with pumpkin based food and snacks. We’ll give you some recipe ideas and you can take your pumpkin guts home to try them out, along with your fabulous pumpkin!
The event is one of more than 100 taking place across the country to support Hubbub’s #EatYourPumpkin campaign which this year is calling on Halloween lovers to ditch the knife and give decorating a go. Over 9,000 people attended events in 2023. By switching pumpkin carving to decorating, the charity hopes that even more pumpkins will be eaten this Halloween.
Mark Breen, Senior Creative Partner at Hubbub said: “For eleven years we’ve been inspiring the public to eat their pumpkins at Halloween. This year we’re sharing fun ideas to decorate pumpkins instead of carving them, to help them keep for longer and give people more time to cook them.”
#EatYourPumpkin is supported by Starbucks, the brand famous for inventing the iconic flavour phenomenon the Pumpkin Spice Latte more than 20 years ago. Since 2018, Starbucks has supported Hubbub’s work reducing food waste, boosting reuse and improving access to nature.
