EXHIBITION: STUDIO FLOOR

STUDIO FLOOR produces diamonds from the rough by excavating the waste remnants of two fashion and textile studios, encouraging creativity in sustainability and circularity.
Spearheaded by ReJean Denim founder, Siobhan McKenna and award-winning couture weaver, Christopher McEvoy, STUDIO FLOOR aims to inspire fellow fashion designers to find ways to keep unwanted clothing out of landfill, helping to tackle the UK fashion industry’s 350,000 tonnes a year textile waste problem. McEvoy asserts that ‘Waste is a major issue in the fashion industry at all levels. We often focus the conversation around the big corporations but small designers contribute to the problem too. STUDIO FLOOR is our first step in addressing this issue. Collaboration is key to any designer’s success, so why not apply it to our waste?’
Using woven and textile concepts to repurpose and breathe new life into the cast-offs from both studios, STUDIO FLOOR will showcase a unique 20-piece collection of new garments and accessories in The Pyramid at Anderston this April.
